Basics
The CODESYS Automation Server is a cloud-based Industry 4.0 platform designed for the centralized management, monitoring, and maintenance of automation landscapes. It enables efficient control of the entire lifecycle of machines and plants — from commissioning and maintenance to data analysis. A key feature is the extensive remote access to the connected control systems.
Access
You can create your personal CODESYS Automation Server via the CODESYS Store. This will also give you an administrator account for your CODESYS Automation Server. You can use this to create additional users, manage permissions, and make full use of the CODESYS Automation Server. You can also cancel your CODESYS Automation Server via the CODESYS Store on a monthly basis. Upon cancellation, all data stored on your CODESYS Automation Server will be permanently deleted.
Infrastructure
The CODESYS Edge Gateway enables communication between the CODESYS Automation Server and connected PLCs. It also serves as a remote CODESYS Gateway, allowing the CODESYS Development System to connect to remote PLCs. It can be installed on dedicated hardware or directly on a PLC – on both Linux and Windows. The CODESYS Edge Gateway encapsulates the PLC world from the outside and ensures secure communication via a TLS connection to the CODESYS Automation Server. The CODESYS Automation Server Connector is an add-on for the CODESYS Development System that enables projects to be synchronized with the CODESYS Automation Server. Simple merge mechanisms allow multiple application engineers to work on a project together and ensure audit-proof storage of the current progress.
