CODESYS AI Workshop Series in Switzerland - Rapperswil-Jona

In this workshop, you will gain practical insights into how generative AI can support engineering with CODESYS, from code generation and documentation to application testing. Together with CODESYS experts and experienced system partners, you will set up the required tools and explore concrete use cases directly within the CODESYS Development System.

The workshop includes hands-on exercises, an introduction to the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and real-world examples of AI-supported engineering workflows. This provides you with a solid basis for evaluating and implementing AI technologies in your own automation and control projects.

CODESYS Engineering with AI Support

Numerous functions in the CODESYS Development System already support you in engineering complex PLC applications. Ultimately, however, it is up to you as a PLC programmer to implement the logic task – drawing on your own experience and the available code pool from libraries. But what if generative AI supported you as a „virtual colleague“? When writing code, structuring projects, creating documentation or testing your application. Too good to be true? Try it out for yourself… CODESYS experts and independent Swiss CODESYS system partners will support and guide you along the way! Getting started has never been more convenient.

Contents

  • Intro: Possible applications of AI in industrial control technology
  • Using the AI chatbot in the CODESYS Online Help
  • Explanation of the MCP interface
  • Connecting the CODESYS Development System via MCP
  • Hands-on exercises
  • From the practice of a CODESYS system partner: Using AI for automated engineering workflows with CI/CD pipelines
  • From the practice of a CODESYS system partner: AI-supported connection and acquisition of machine data in SQL databases
  • Further possible applications of AI with CODESYS

What can you expect?

During the workshop, you can see for yourself what AI-supported engineering in CODESYS makes possible. The CODESYS team will provide everything you need on site:

  • Information on MCP
  • CODESYS MCP Server as an add-on for the CODESYS Development System
  • Demo licenses for using the CODESYS Professional Developer Edition
  • Limited test access to a generative AI
  • Demo on the use of local LLMs on hardware with Intel CPU
  • Practical demonstrations by the experienced CODESYS system partners Inasoft and Actemium Schweiz AG

What do you need to bring?

Please bring your own MS Windows PC with local administrator rights. Ideally, you will have already downloaded and installed version 3.5 SP22 (latest version) from the CODESYS Store in advance (see https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys.html). To do so, please set up an account in the CODESYS Store if you do not have one yet. Together, we will then install and configure the required add-on.

Terms of participation

Presentations and discussions in German

As a participant, you will receive the conference documents as a PDF (available for download afterwards), refreshments during the breaks and lunch. The number of participants is limited. In the event of cancellation after 05 October 2026 or non-attendance, the participation fee will not be refunded. If the number of registrations is too low, the event may be cancelled at short notice.

Objective

Test within a defined framework whether and how the use of AI can support you in implementing control projects in CODESYS. When setting up and applying the AI, you will be guided by the CODESYS team and the experienced CODESYS system partners from Inasoft and Actemium Schweiz. This gives you a solid basis for decision-making while investing only limited time and resources. Benefit from the exchange with the speakers and other workshop participants.

After the workshop, you can take your experience back to your company and continue to benefit from it free of charge for a further four weeks. Please note: after the workshop, you will need your own AI access with an MCP interface.

Target group

The workshop is aimed at everyone who programs applications for PLC projects. In addition, team leaders of PLC programmers and everyone who strategically evaluates and is responsible for the use of AI in control technology will benefit.
