Via the CODESYS Edge Gateway the local controllers connect to the CODESYS Automation Server. The configuration of the gateway is done via the CODESYS Service Tool. During that process the URL of the CODESYS Automation Server is transferred to the CODESYS Edge Gateway and certificates are created and exchanged for a secure TLS connection.

The CODESYS Service Tool can be used via a user interface (UI) or via the command line (CLI).

Note: The communication between the CODESYS Service Tool and the CODESYS Edge Gateway is not encrypted. Therefore it is important to configure a CODESYS Edge Gateway in a secured network.
